Everyone loves computers when they work-And everyone hates them when they don’t.
We have all thought at one time or another that there are goblins or gremlins in our computer trying to frustrate us. Likely, there are very legitimate and preventable reasons why a computer is not working, acting right or performing at its best. Here are some things that T3 can suggest to help your computer stay healthy!
Everything needs dusting including your computer. Computers are some of the most efficient dust collectors known to man. A dusty computer will trap heat, which can reduce performance and lifespan. The exterior of a computer can be wiped down with a damp cloth while the interior can be cleaned with canned air, gently.
Even our computers can get sick or viruses. Run business class antivirus and spyware scans regularly. It goes without saying that any computer connected to the internet, needs to have antivirus software so that your privacy and data are not compromised and your computer performance isn’t either.
Clean up your software programs. Periodically look through the ‘Add or Remove Programs’ found in your Control Panel. Cautiously remove anything you have not used in a while and look for programs that have been automatically downloaded while internet browsing. Pay close attention to browser tool bars, games and other programs that can eat up your resources.
Reboot, Refresh, Renew. You have probably heard the phrase “have your tried turning it off and on again.” This is the really the best way to resolve simple issues you might be experiencing with your computer or its performance. It is natural for a computer to start running more slowly if it has been left running for a long period of time. Rebooting will speed things up, free up memory space and remove temporary files that were stored while using your computer.
Get Help. As a small business owner, your primary focus should be on your core business. Therefore, outsourcing your computer and technology needs may be the best option for you.
